I MISSED the registration deadline of september 5th. Can i still register?
Unfortunately, No! Our registrations were open for almost six months and are firmly closed now. This will allow us to now put our efforts into organising the event and providing participants with an experience that they will remember. We will not entertain any registrations now. Please consider participating in the next edition in 2017.
how much will it cost to participate in the malnad ultra
The Malnad Ultra is a not-for-profit event. Runners will pay a registration fee of INR 1500 + taxes. This amounts to about Rs. 1840. Additionally, we recommend that our runners buy the Package that includes 2 nights of accommodation on twin-sharing basis and transfers from and back to Birur. This costs about INR 3500. Details are available here. Therefore runners should expect to spend about Rs. 5000 + cost of travel to Birur.
are there any prizes for top finishers?
No, there are no prizes at The Malnad Ultra. All Finishers will get a Timing Certificate and a Finisher Medal, but there are no cash or other prizes. We are greatly inspired by the story of the Mas Locos and the Ultra Caballo Blanco where finishers get Corn! We believe that an Ultramarathon is all about endurance and human spirit and not about prizes or cash.
can i bring my own car/bike to the venue?
We strongly recommend that participants use public transport to come to the event. There are plenty of trains and buses coming to Birur. Our recommendation is based on the following points:
This is a remote area and there is almost no data network. You will not be able to find the venue easily
There is limited parking at the venue. Additionally, private cars will not be allowed inside the private coffee plantations
It is cost efficient and time efficient. There are convenient AC Chair Car Trains that will bring you to Birur in 3 to 3.5 hours. A road journey will take almost 5 hours in comparison
We have arranged transfers from Birur to the venue and back after the run. Details are provided at Accommodation Package
Is the ACCOMMODATION package mandatory?
No, the accommodation package is not mandatory. However, it is easily the best option for the following reasons:
There is limited accommodation in the area and we have booked all of the good options
The package takes into consideration all the needs of our runners and includes rooms on twin-sharing basis, meals and transfers from and to Birur.
Do we have to book the ACCOMMODATION package along with registration?
No, you don't have to book the Accommodation package at the same time as Registration. You can book that separately at a later time. However, we recommend that you book the accommodation package as early as you can to ensure that you get the better rooms. It will also help us plan our logistics better.
Will I get a t-shirt? CAN I CHOOSE MY T-SHIRT SIZE?
All participants will get an Official Malnad Ultra T-Shirt. You can choose your T-shirt size during Registrations. If you have registered for our event prior to July 7, 2016, please provide your T-shirt size from your Email ID registered with us.
i am arriving late afternoon/evening on 7th October. Will you still pick me up in birur?
We recommend that you arrive in Birur by mid-day on October 7th. This will allow us to arrange transfers by bus to Kemmanagundi. Having said that, we understand that some of you are traveling far and might reach Birur in the late afternoon/evening on October 7th because of your flight or train timings. We recommend that you send an email to our Travel Partner and inform them of your travel plans. This will allow them to make alternate arrangements for your pickup.
